The other day, I learned that Anna Faris’ character in Lost in Translation was a near-perfect mockery of Cameron Diaz. Once I heard that, it puts Faris’ performance totally in a different light — it’s an uncanny imitation of Diaz. Especially this line:

KELLY
Sorry, I have the worst B.O. …

Reportedly, in interactions between the three characters in the movie, Charlotte was director Sofia Coppola herself; Charlotte’s husband John was Sofia’s husband, director Spike Jonze; and Kelly was, of course, Cameron Diaz, who Jonze directed in Being John Malkovich.
